The Journey Begins: Welcome to The Magical Life

Today, something begins.

Not just a website. Not just a book announcement. But a conversation I've been preparing to have for nearly two decades.

This is the story of how I went from burned out at forty to alive at fifty. From running e-commerce empires to studying theme parks like they were sacred texts. From accepting depletion as normal to building a life that actually restores me.

And this is an invitation for you to do the same.

Why This Book Exists

In 2006, I was a CIO with successful exits, executive titles, and chronic exhaustion. I had everything the world told me to want. I also had zero joy and the nagging feeling that I'd traded my soul for a corner office.

Then I did something that probably looked ridiculous to everyone around me: I started studying Disney World like it was a business model.

I analyzed Imagineering principles. I dissected the design of Middle-earth. I reverse-engineered why I felt more alive walking through Disneyland than walking through my actual life.

And I found the answer.

The answer changed everything.

Theme parks aren't just entertainment. They're masterclasses in energy restoration. Every sight line, every scent, every transition between lands is designed to give you energy instead of taking it.

Your regular life does the opposite. And you've been blaming yourself for being tired.

What This Website Is For

This website exists to do three things:

First, to share the principles. The blog you're reading right now will explore the hidden design principles that make fantasy worlds restore energy—and how to apply them to your real life. Your bedroom. Your workspace. Your morning routine. Your identity.

Second, to build a community. If you're a Disney adult, a Harry Potter fan, or a Lord of the Rings superfan who's tired of being told to "grow up," you've found your people. We're not escaping reality. We're diagnosing what's missing from it.

Third, to prepare you for the book. The Magical Life: What Theme Parks Know About Designing a Life Worth Living launches in August 2026. This website is your portal into that world—starting now.

What You'll Find Here

The Blog: Every week, I'll publish new insights about energy restoration, space design, character building, and the hidden principles that make fantasy worlds work. These aren't just think pieces. They're practical frameworks you can apply immediately.

The Free Guide: I'm giving away one complete principle from the book—Quest and Restoration: The Forgotten Rhythm—as a free PDF guide. It's the principle that changed my life more than any other. You can get it right now by joining the early access list.

The Community: This is just the beginning. As we build toward the August launch, this space will become a gathering place for everyone who refuses to accept depletion as normal.

Who This Is For

You know that feeling when you walk ten miles at Disney World and feel energized, but you can't walk ten minutes on a treadmill at home without feeling depleted?

That's not about fitness. That's about design.

This book—and this website—is for you if:

  • You feel more alive in fantasy worlds than in your regular life
  • You're chronically depleted despite trying all the productivity systems
  • You're a proud Disney adult, Harry Potter fan, or theme park enthusiast
  • You've ever wished you could live in the Shire or Hogwarts
  • You know there has to be a better way to live, but you're not sure what it is
  • You want to build a reality you don't need to escape from

The Book: Coming August 2026

The Magical Life is divided into five transformative sections:

Part One: The Sanctuary — Design spaces that restore you instead of depleting you
Part Two: The Character — Build your identity like a theme park designs an experience
Part Three: The Practices — Rituals that give energy instead of taking it
Part Four: The Journey — Navigate life like a quest, not a grind
Part Five: The Restoration — From depletion to overflow

Each section contains principles, frameworks, and practical exercises. This isn't theory. It's a blueprint.

Your First Step

You don't have to wait until August to begin.

Right now, you can get the free guide: Quest and Restoration: The Forgotten Rhythm. It's Principle 8 from the book—a complete deep dive into why you need both adventure and rest, and how to design your life around that rhythm.

It includes the Quest Framework, the Power of Your Dark Side, and why "balance" is a lie that's keeping you depleted.

What Happens Next

Over the next seven months, I'll be sharing everything I've learned about designing a life that restores you. The blog will go deep into specific principles. The community will grow. And in August, the full book will launch.

But today, the journey begins.

Welcome to The Magical Life.

You're not lazy. You're not unmotivated. You're not broken.

You're depleted.

And depletion has a cure: better design.

Let's build it together.
